Who processes your data, and where it is stored EN

The services involved in running Rekorder, and what each one handles.

Rekorder uses a small number of outside services to take payments, send emails, sign you in and write summaries. This article lists each one, what it handles, and what it never receives. These services are often called subprocessors: companies that process data on Rekorder's behalf.

Rekorder has data processing terms with each of them. The terms are at least as strict as the obligations in the Privacy Policy.

In Offline mode you don't sign in and nothing is uploaded, so most of this doesn't apply to you. See What leaves your computer in each mode.

Who handles what

Payments and invoices

  • Stripe handles card payments, subscription billing and invoicing. It receives your email address, your name and your billing address. Stripe stores your full card details. Rekorder never receives or stores your card number or security code.
  • PayPal handles PayPal payments. Rekorder receives your email address and payer and transaction identifiers, so it can match a payment to your account. PayPal keeps your PayPal login and full payment details.
  • SmartBill issues the invoices that Romanian tax law requires. It receives the billing name, the address and the amounts needed for a valid invoice.

Stripe and PayPal are the only payment processors Rekorder uses. For your invoices, see Find and download your invoices.

Summaries and chapters

  • OpenAI writes summaries and chapter markers. It only receives the transcript text of a recording, and only when you generate a summary or chapters. Your audio and video are never sent to OpenAI.

See Generate a summary and Chapters: generated, added and renamed.

Captions

Captions are produced by Rekorder's own transcription service, which runs on Rekorder's own infrastructure. Your audio isn't sent to a third party to be transcribed. See Generate captions for a recording.

Signing in and Google Drive

Email

Website analytics and abuse protection

  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager provide overall usage statistics for the website. They receive usage data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
  • A bot check protects certain forms from automated traffic. It receives usage data and interaction signals that help tell people from bots.
  • Cloudflare provides the bot check that protects certain forms from automated traffic. It receives usage data and interaction signals that help tell people from bots.

Where your data is stored

Your uploaded recordings, transcripts and account data are stored in the European Union. Rekorder is established in the European Economic Area (EEA).

Some of the services above process data in other countries. OpenAI, Stripe and PayPal, for example, process data in the United States, so some of your data can move between the EEA and the US.

Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or an equivalent safeguard. Rekorder doesn't transfer your data to a country or organisation unless adequate controls are in place.

What Rekorder doesn't do

  • It doesn't sell your personal data.
  • It doesn't share your personal data for advertising across other sites.

Deleting your data

When you delete a recording or your account, Rekorder erases the data from its active systems. Copies you saved to your own Google Drive stay there, because they belong to you. Invoices already issued stay with the invoicing provider, because the law requires an accounting record. See How long recordings are kept and Delete everything Rekorder holds about you.
