Get out of a grace period EN

Work out which ceiling you crossed, then free it up or cover it - before the 30 days run out.

If you see a banner saying you have days left to get back within your free limits, you have two ways out: delete recordings until you're under both free limits, or get a paid seat that covers them. Either one ends the grace period. You have 30 days from the day the paid seat that covered your recordings ended.

While the grace period runs, you can still view, play and download everything. When it ends, Rekorder may delete your oldest recordings that no paid seat covers, oldest first, and only as far as it takes to get back under the limits. Deleted recordings can't be recovered.

1. Work out which limit you're over

The free plan has two limits: 60 minutes of recording time and 1 GB of storage. Both apply to your whole account, not to one workspace. The banner at the top of your Library spells out how far over you are, for example "200 MB over your 1 GB of storage" or "12 minutes over your 60 minutes of recording time". It can name both.

This matters because the fix differs:

Over on storage: delete the largest recordings, or imported files in your asset library. Long recordings aren't always big ones.
Over on minutes: delete the longest recordings. Smaller files don't help, because minutes count the length of a recording, not its size.
Over on both: you have to get under both limits.

2. Pick a way out

Free up space by deleting

Deleting a recording gives back its minutes and its storage straight away.

Select Manage recordings on the banner, or open your Library.
Look for the at-risk badge on recordings. It shows the recording's place in line to be deleted when the grace period ends. See The "at risk of deletion" badge on a recording.
Download anything you might need later. See Download your own recording.
Delete recordings until you're under the limit. To delete several at once, see Select several recordings and act on them at once.

You don't have to delete the ones with badges. Any recording you delete counts, as long as it's outside a paid seat. Once you're under both limits, the banner disappears and the deadline is cancelled.

Cover your recordings with a paid seat

A paid seat exempts a workspace's recordings from your free limits. If the recordings that are using up your allowance sit in a workspace where you have a seat, they stop counting and the grace period ends. Get a seat again in that workspace, or upgrade it to Pro if it's your own. Select See plans on the banner to start.

A seat covers only the workspace it's in. Recordings in other workspaces still count against your free limits.

What doesn't help

Moving recordings to another free workspace. Both limits belong to your account and follow whoever made the recording, wherever it sits. The same minutes and bytes still count, and the deadline doesn't move.
Archiving. Archived recordings still count. Only deleting frees space. See Archive vs delete.
Waiting. Nothing resets on a schedule.

Troubleshooting

The banner is still there after you deleted recordings. Give it a minute and reload the page. If it stays, you're probably still over the other limit. Check the figures on the banner again.
You've deleted a lot and storage is still over. Imported images, video and audio in your asset library count towards the 1 GB, and Rekorder never deletes them for you. Delete the ones you don't need. See The asset library: import images, video and audio. When you render an edit, Rekorder also keeps the original recording, which uses storage until the recording is deleted.
The banner says your grace period has ended. You're still over the limits, and your oldest uncovered recordings will be deleted soon. Delete or download what you can, or get a seat, as soon as you can.
