Revoke camera or microphone access EN

Chrome owns these permissions, not Rekorder. Here is where they live.

You revoke Rekorder's camera or microphone access in Chrome's settings, not in Rekorder. Chrome stores these permissions, and only Chrome can change them. Rekorder has no setting that removes them.

Revoke access in Chrome

  1. Open Chrome's menu and choose Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy and security, then Site settings.
  3. Open Camera or Microphone. Do this once for each device you want to revoke.
  4. Find the Rekorder entry. Because Rekorder is an extension, it appears as an address that starts with chrome-extension:// followed by a string of letters. That string is Rekorder's extension ID. You can see the ID on Rekorder's card at chrome://extensions.
  5. Open the entry and change the permission. Chrome's wording for these options may vary by version:
    • Reset or remove the permission, so Chrome asks again the next time Rekorder needs the device.
    • Set it to Block, so Chrome refuses without asking.

Camera and microphone are separate permissions. Revoking one doesn't affect the other.

What happens afterward

  • If you reset the permission, Chrome asks again the next time Rekorder needs your camera or microphone. You can allow it then. See Allow camera and microphone access.
  • If you set it to Block, Rekorder shows "Camera or microphone access is blocked" and can't use the device. Chrome won't ask again until you allow it in Site settings. See Camera or microphone permission is blocked.
  • Your existing recordings aren't touched. The permission only controls whether Rekorder can use your devices from now on.

If you only want the camera or microphone off for now

You don't need to revoke anything to record without them. Turn the device off for that recording instead:
