What you give up in Offline mode EN

In Offline mode you record without an account, and every recording stays on your computer. In exchange, you don't get the editor, captions, sharing, workspaces or cloud sync. Recording itself works as it does in Cloud mode.

What isn't available

• No video editor. You can't trim, cut or add overlays inside Rekorder. Edit the downloaded file in another video tool if you need to.
• No captions. Rekorder doesn't generate captions for offline recordings.
• No video sharing. Rekorder doesn't give an offline recording a link. To share one, download it and send the file yourself.
• No workspaces. There's no team space to record into or browse, so nothing is shared with teammates.
• No cloud sync. Recordings aren't uploaded, so they exist only on the computer and browser where you made them. You can't open them from another device.

What you keep

• The full recorder, with no sign-in required.
• Recordings saved directly to your computer. Rekorder doesn't limit how many you can keep.
• A list of your recordings in the Rekorder popup, where you can download or delete each one. Deleting asks you to confirm because it's permanent.

Your computer's storage is the only limit

Offline recordings live in Chrome's storage on your device. If the device runs low on space, Chrome may remove recordings you haven't downloaded, and you can't get them back. The popup shows how much local storage you've used. Download recordings you want to keep before it fills up. See Where offline recordings are stored, and how to keep them.

If you need the missing features

Sign in to switch to Cloud mode. In the popup, the Offline mode icon shows "Click to Sign in and change to Cloud mode". See Switching between Offline and Cloud mode before you switch, so you know what happens to recordings you've already made.
