Switching between Offline and Cloud mode EN

Signing in and out is the switch, and it neither uploads nor deletes anything you already recorded.

Rekorder has no separate mode setting. You move from Offline mode to Cloud mode by signing in, and back by signing out and choosing to continue without an account. Switching doesn't upload anything and doesn't delete anything.

What happens to your recordings

Recordings made in Offline mode stay on your computer. Signing in doesn't upload them, and they don't appear in your cloud library.
Recordings made in Cloud mode stay in your account. Signing out doesn't delete them, and you can see them again when you sign back in.
New recordings go wherever your current mode sends them. In Offline mode they're saved on your device. In Cloud mode they're saved to your account.

The list of recordings saved on your device ("Recording history") is only available in Offline mode. To see your offline recordings again after signing in, switch back to Offline mode.

Add an offline recording to your cloud library

Rekorder doesn't move offline recordings to your cloud library automatically. You can add them yourself:

In Offline mode, open Recording history and download the recording to your device.
Switch to Cloud mode by signing in or open https://rekorder.app in a browser tab.
Open My Recordings and click Import, then choose the downloaded file.

Chrome can remove recordings that were saved only on your device if the device runs low on space, so download the ones you want to keep. See Where offline recordings are stored, and how to keep them.

Switch from Offline mode to Cloud mode

Click the Rekorder icon in the Chrome toolbar.
Click the OFFLINE badge at the top of the popup. You can also open Settings and click Sign in.
Choose how to sign in: Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple or email.
Finish signing in in the window Rekorder opens.

Switch from Cloud mode to Offline mode

Click the Rekorder icon in the Chrome toolbar, then open Settings.
Click the logout icon next to your email address.
On the sign-in screen, click I don't want to Sign in.
Read the summary of what Offline mode includes, then click Continue.

If you skip steps 3 and 4, you're just signed out. You won't be in Offline mode until you click Continue.

What changes when you switch

Offline mode doesn't include video sharing, workspaces, the video editor or cloud sync. Recordings are saved directly to your computer. For the full list, see What you give up in Offline mode.
