Do the people I share with need an account? EN

What a signed-out viewer can and cannot do.

It depends on how you shared the recording. With Anyone with the link, anyone can watch without signing in. With Specific people, a viewer always has to sign in, using the exact email address you invited.

What a signed-out viewer can do

If the recording's general access is Anyone with the link, a signed-out viewer can:

  • Watch the recording.
  • Download it, if you've left Download on in the recording's Settings tab.
  • Read the transcript, if you've left Transcript on.
  • See the view count, if you've left View Count on.

These are the same toggles that apply to any viewer, signed in or not. See Stop viewers downloading, or hide the transcript.

What needs an account

  • Commenting or reacting. A signed-out viewer sees a notice that comments are disabled when they try to post, and needs to sign in first.
  • Saving a download to Google Drive. They can still download the file itself without signing in; saving a copy straight to their own Drive needs an account.
  • Opening a recording shared with Specific people. The link alone isn't enough - the viewer must sign in with the exact email address you invited. A different address, or staying signed out, doesn't work.
  • Opening a Private recording. Only you can open it, unless the viewer is a teammate in the same team workspace.

Viewers are never charged

Signing in to watch, comment or react doesn't cost the viewer or you anything - Rekorder never charges per viewer, however many people watch. See Do I pay for people who only watch?
