A viewer says the link does not work EN

Access level, the address you invited, and what a signed-out viewer actually sees.

Most "the link doesn't work" reports come down to one of three things: the recording's general access level, whether the viewer's email matches who you invited, or whether they're signed in at all. Work through these in order.

1. Check the general access level

Open the recording and select Share to see General access.

  • Private - only you can open it. If it's still set to Private, no link will work for anyone outside your team workspace.
  • Specific people - only the email addresses on the invite list can open it, and only by signing in with that exact address.
  • Anyone with the link - anyone with the link can open it, signed in or not.

If you meant to share more broadly, switch General access to the level you want and select Done. For what each level lets a viewer do, see Private, specific people, or anyone with the link.

One exception applies at every level: if the recording lives in a team workspace with two or more active members, other members of that workspace can always open it, even while it's set to Private.

2. If it's shared with Specific people, check the address

The link alone isn't enough at this level - the viewer has to sign in with the exact email address you invited. A different address for the same person (a personal address instead of a work one, for example), a typo in the address you entered, or staying signed out, all fail the same way.

To fix a wrong address:

  1. Open the recording and select Share.
  2. Select the x next to the incorrect address to remove it, then select Invite to save.
  3. Add the correct address and select Invite again.

The newly added address gets an emailed link; addresses already on the list don't get re-emailed. See Who gets an email when you share.

3. Check what a signed-out viewer actually sees

  • On Anyone with the link, a signed-out viewer can watch, and can download or read the transcript if you've left those on in the recording's Settings tab. They only need to sign in to comment or react.
  • On Specific people, staying signed out never works, no matter which address they'd sign in with - they must sign in first.
  • On Private, a signed-out viewer can't open it at all, unless they're a teammate covered by the workspace exception above.

See Do the people I share with need an account? for the full breakdown.

  • The recording was deleted. Deleting a recording removes its sharing settings along with the video, so any link that was shared stops working for everyone, including you. This can't be undone. See Archive vs delete and Can I recover a deleted recording?.
  • It was deleted automatically at the end of a grace period. If your account went over the free limits after a paid seat ended, Rekorder may have deleted your oldest uncovered recordings 30 days later. See The 30-day grace period and the deletion order.
  • They were removed from the invite list, or access was switched to Private. Both take effect immediately and without notifying the person. See Unshare, or revoke someone's access.
