Change your display name or picture EN

Where each comes from, and what you can override.

Rekorder does not have its own profile editor. Your display name and profile picture come from the way you signed in, and there is no setting in Rekorder to change them. To change either one, change it where it comes from, then sign in to Rekorder again.

Your name and picture appear in your account menu in the top-right corner and at the top of Settings. Teammates see them in the workspaces you share, for example in the Users & Seats member list.

Where your name and picture come from

It depends on how you sign in:

  • Google, Microsoft or Facebook: your name and profile photo come from that account. They are refreshed every time you sign in with it.
  • Microsoft with no profile photo: you get Rekorder's default picture.
  • Apple: your name comes from Apple. Apple does not share a profile photo, so you get the default picture.
  • Emailed sign-in link, or an invitation, when you create your account: you type your first and last name when the account is created. Your picture is your initials on a coloured background.
  • Emailed sign-in link to an existing account: nothing changes. Your name and picture stay as they were the last time they were set.

If you use more than one sign-in method, your profile shows the name and picture from the one you used most recently. For example, you might sign in with Microsoft one day and Google the next. Your profile then shows your Google name and photo.

If Rekorder has no name for you, your email address appears in its place.

Change your name or picture

  1. Change your name or photo in your Google, Microsoft or Facebook account.
  2. In Rekorder, sign out.
  3. Sign in again with that same provider.

Your Rekorder profile now shows the new name and picture.

The name you typed when you created your account cannot be edited afterwards, and neither can the initials picture. To use a different name or a real photo, sign in once with a Google or Microsoft account that uses the same email address. You land in the same account, with all your recordings and workspaces. Rekorder takes the name and picture from that provider. Later sign-ins with an emailed link keep them.
