When someone leaves a workspace, or is removed EN

The seat is released and the recordings stay in the workspace - whether they left or you removed them.

Whether someone deletes their Rekorder account or an owner or admin removes them directly, the outcome for your workspace is the same: their access ends, any paid seat they held goes back into the pool, and their recordings stay exactly where they were - handed over to the workspace owner rather than deleted.

Remove someone from a workspace

  1. Open the workspace's Users & Seats page.
  2. Find the member's row and open its ⋮ menu.
  3. Select Remove member.
  4. Confirm. The dialog shows how many recordings they have in the workspace and how long they run, so you know what you're about to take on before you confirm.

Only the workspace's owner or an admin can remove a member. The owner can't be removed, demoted or unassigned by anyone - their row shows no such option. See Owner, admin and member: what each can do.

Removing someone is different from just unassigning their seat: unassigning leaves them able to watch, comment on and download what's already there, but removing ends their access to the workspace entirely, right away. See Give someone a paid seat, or take it back.

When someone leaves on their own

There's no separate "leave workspace" button. A member leaves a workspace they don't own by deleting their Rekorder account - see Delete your account and everything in it. Only their membership in that workspace ends; the workspace itself isn't affected, and their content is handed over exactly as it would be if you had removed them yourself. For what else account deletion does - the emails their teammates get, timing, and so on - see What happens to your workspaces and teammates.

What happens to their recordings and seat

  • Recordings and folders they had in the workspace move to the workspace owner. Nothing is deleted, and nothing moves to their personal workspace - it stays exactly where it was, just under new ownership.
  • The recordings are still credited to them. Even though the workspace owner now owns them, the video cards keep showing who originally recorded them.
  • Any paid seat they held is released back into the pool immediately, ready for an owner or admin to assign to someone else.
  • The moved recordings stop counting towards the departing person's own free allowance or storage, since they no longer own them.
  • Their other workspaces, and any recordings they own elsewhere, aren't affected.
