Owner, admin and member: what each can do EN

Every team workspace has one owner, and any number of admins and members. The three roles control who can manage the team and its paid seats — they do not control who can view, comment on, download, edit, transcribe or export a recording, which every workspace participant can do regardless of role.

Owner

The owner is whoever created the workspace. This cannot be changed — there is no way to transfer ownership to someone else.

The owner:

• Always holds a paid seat, and cannot be removed, demoted, or have that seat unassigned.
• Is the only one who can manage billing: change the plan, change how many seats the workspace pays for, update the payment method, and view or download invoices.
• Can do everything an admin can do (see below).

Admin

An admin manages the team, but not the money. An admin can:

• Invite people to the workspace, and choose whether they join as admin or member.
• Assign a paid seat to a member or a pending invitation, or release one.
• Promote a member to admin, or demote an admin back to member.
• Remove a member from the workspace.
• Resend or revoke a pending invitation.

An admin cannot change the owner's role, remove the owner, unassign the owner's seat, or manage billing (change the seat count, payment method, or plan).

Member

A member is the default role for anyone invited without being made an admin. A member cannot invite people, manage seats, promote or demote anyone, or remove anyone from the workspace. Opening the workspace's Users & Seats page as a member shows only who owns the workspace, with a note to ask that owner or an admin.

What role does not control

Role and paid seat are two separate things:

• Viewing, commenting, downloading, editing, generating captions or a summary, and exporting are available to every participant, seated or not.
• Recording and uploading into a shared workspace require a paid seat. A member without a seat can do everything above but cannot start a new recording there until an owner or admin assigns them one.

Change someone's role

1. Open the workspace's Users & Seats page (owner or admin only).
2. Find the member's row and open its menu.
3. Choose Promote to admin or Demote to member.

The owner's row has no such option — its menu simply notes that the owner cannot be changed.
