Private, specific people, or anyone with the link EN

Three access levels, and what each one means for someone who has the URL.

Every recording has a general access level, set in its Share window, that decides who can open it: Private, Specific people, or Anyone with the link. This article covers what a person actually can and can't do at each level once they have the URL.

Private

  • Only you, the owner, can open the recording.
  • Anyone else who gets the link - even if they open it directly - can't view it.
  • Exception: if you record into a team workspace that has two or more active members, the other members can always open your recordings, even while access is set to Private.

Specific people

  • Only the email addresses you invite can open the recording.
  • The link alone isn't enough. A viewer must sign in with the exact address you invited - a different address, or staying signed out, doesn't work.
  • Each person is emailed a link the first time you invite them.
  • The same workspace exception as Private applies: teammates in a workspace with two or more active members can open it regardless of the invite list.
  • Anyone who has the link can watch, whether they're signed in or not.
  • They only need to sign in to comment or react.
  • Because the link itself is what grants access, treat it like a password for the recording - anyone you forward it to, or anyone it leaks to, can open it.

What access doesn't control

The access level only decides who can open the recording, not what they can do once inside. Whether a viewer can download it, read the transcript, comment, or see the view count is controlled separately, on the recording's Settings tab. See Stop viewers downloading, or hide the transcript.
