The "at risk of deletion" badge on a recording EN

What puts a recording in line, and how to take it back out.

The "at risk of deletion" badge marks a recording that Rekorder may delete when your grace period ends. The number on the badge is its place in line: number 1 goes first.

You only see badges while a grace period is running. A grace period starts when a paid seat that covered your recordings ends and you're over the free limits. See The 30-day grace period and the deletion order.

What the badge looks like

The badge is an amber timer icon with a number, in the corner of the recording's card in your Library. The card's thumbnail also gets an amber outline. Hover over the badge to read this message:

"No paid seat covers this recording. It is #N in line to be deleted when your grace period ends - delete or download it, or get a paid seat, to keep it."

You see badges in every view of your Library, not only in the workspace you're browsing, because the free limits belong to your account.

Why a recording gets a badge

A recording gets a badge when all of these are true:

  • You made it.
  • No paid seat of yours covers the workspace it's in.
  • It's among the oldest of those recordings, and deleting it and the ones ahead of it would be needed to get you back within both free limits (60 minutes of recording time and 1 GB of storage).

The line runs oldest first. Rekorder only marks as many recordings as it would need to delete to get you back under the limits, so most of your recordings may have no badge. A recording with no badge isn't safe forever. It just isn't needed yet.

Recordings in a workspace where you still hold a paid seat never get a badge. Recordings other people made don't get one on your account either.

How to take a recording out of line

You have three ways to keep a recording:

  • Get a paid seat that covers it. If the recording sits in a workspace where you have a seat, it stops counting towards your free limits and the badge goes away. To upgrade your own workspace, see Upgrade a workspace to Pro. If you're on a team and lost a seat, an admin can give you one again. See Give someone a paid seat, or take it back.
  • Delete other recordings. Deleting a recording gives back its minutes and storage right away, so fewer recordings need to go. Badges drop off the end of the line first. If you delete recordings until you're under both limits, the grace period ends and every badge disappears. See Get out of a grace period. To delete several at once, see Select several recordings and act on them at once.
  • Download it. This doesn't remove the badge, but you keep a copy of the video if the recording is deleted. See Download your own recording.

A deleted recording can't be recovered, so download anything you might need first. See Can I recover a deleted recording?.

Things that change the numbers

  • If you delete a recording that has a badge, the ones behind it move up the line.
  • The line is worked out again each time you load your Library, so numbers can change between visits. Give it a minute and reload the page after you delete something.

What doesn't remove a badge

  • Moving the recording to another free workspace. Both limits belong to your account.
  • Archiving it. Archived recordings still count. See Archive vs delete.
  • Waiting.

Troubleshooting

  • I don't see any badges, but I have a grace period banner. Badges only appear on recordings that would actually be deleted. If your recordings are all covered by a seat, or the limits can't be reached by deleting recordings, none are marked. For example, imported files in your asset library count towards your storage but are never deleted.
  • A badge is still there after I deleted recordings. Reload the page. If it stays, you're probably still over one of the limits. Check the figures on the banner.
