The pending and processing states you keep seeing, and when the page reloads itself.
Rekorder does several things on its servers, not in your browser: turning your upload into a finished video, rendering your edits, generating captions, and filtering out background noise. While any of that is running, you'll see a "pending" or "processing" message and the relevant buttons stay locked. Rekorder checks in the background and updates or reloads the page for you the moment the work finishes, so you never need to refresh it yourself.
Where you'll see it
- Right after you stop recording. The video page shows "Your recording is being processed" until Rekorder finishes uploading, converting and preparing the file. Until then you can't edit, share, caption, summarize or download it. See What happens between stopping and the video being ready.
- After you select Apply & render in the editor. The status shows "Rendering…" and Apply & render and Restore original stay locked until the new video is built. See Save a draft vs Apply & render.
- While captions are generating. The Transcript tab shows "Generating…" until the transcript is ready. Summaries and chapters need captions first, so they wait too.
- While the background noise filter is running. A spinner shows next to Background noise filter, and you can't reopen it until the current pass finishes. See Remove background noise from a recording.
Why editing, sharing and captions specifically wait
- Editing needs the finished video file to cut, reorder and mute. If you open the editor before that file exists, it shows a message telling you it's still processing instead of the usual tools.
- Sharing and downloading point at that same finished file, so there's nothing to send a link to, or download, until it exists.
- Captions are generated from an audio track Rekorder extracts while it prepares the recording, so generation can't start until that step is done.
Why the page reloads or updates itself
Once you stop a recording or trigger a render, Rekorder checks progress in the background every few seconds and reloads the page, or swaps the "Generating…" or spinner state for the finished result, as soon as it's done. You don't need to keep refreshing, and it's safe to close the tab or navigate away - the work keeps going on Rekorder's servers, and you'll see the current state whenever you come back.
Troubleshooting
A wait right after stopping a recording, rendering or generating captions is expected. If it goes on much longer than the recording's length would explain:
