Sign in again after deleting your account EN

What you get back, what you do not, and what stays on record.

After your account has been deleted, you can sign in again with the same email address. You get a new, empty account. None of your recordings, workspaces, settings or subscriptions come back, and Rekorder can't restore them.

If you confirmed the deletion less than 24 hours ago, your account may not be deleted yet. In that case you can still keep it. See Cancel an account deletion.

Sign in again

  1. Go to the Rekorder sign-in page, or open the Rekorder extension popup.
  2. Sign in the usual way, with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple or an emailed sign-in link. Use the email address your deleted account had.
  3. Rekorder creates a new personal workspace for you and sends you the welcome email that new users get.

You don't need to sign up separately. Signing in with that email address is enough. If you sign in with a different email address, you get a separate account that has no link to the old one. See Sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple and Sign in with an emailed link.

The deletion signed you out of the extension too. After you sign in again, new recordings go to your new personal workspace. See Sign in from the extension popup.

What you start with

  • An empty personal workspace, called "your first name's Workspace".
  • The Free plan, with the full free allowance. Your deleted recordings no longer count toward it. See The free allowance: 60 minutes and 1 GB, explained.
  • Your name, which is taken from your sign-in provider. If you sign in with an emailed link, you get the name your old account had.

What does not come back

  • Your recordings, with their transcripts, comments, share links and edits. Links you shared before no longer work.
  • The workspaces you owned, and everything in them, including your teammates' recordings.
  • Your assets, your profile picture and your settings, including your passkeys.
  • Your Google Drive connection. Copies you saved to Google Drive are still in your Drive. To save new recordings there, connect Drive again. See Connect or disconnect Google Drive.
  • Comments you wrote on other people's recordings.
  • Your Pro subscriptions, and any paid time that was left on them. To use Pro again, upgrade a workspace from the start. See Upgrade a workspace to Pro.
  • Your invoices. Rekorder can't show them to you in the new account.
  • Your place in other people's workspaces, and any invitations that were waiting for you. Ask the workspace owner or an admin to invite you again. See Find, accept or decline a workspace invitation.
  • Recordings you made in other people's workspaces. These went to each workspace's owner when your account was deleted, and they stay with the owner.

What stays on record

Rekorder keeps some records after a deletion, so your new account is not completely unconnected to the old one:

  • Your email address and your original sign-up date. That's why Settings shows the month you first joined next to Member since, not the day you came back.
  • A banned account stays banned. If your old account was banned, signing in again takes you to the "This account is unavailable" page, not a new account. See "This account is unavailable".
  • Sign-in and security logs, payment records and a record of your deletion request. These stay whether or not you come back.

For the full list and the reason each item is kept, see What is kept after your account is deleted.

If the deletion hasn't happened yet

Your account is deleted 24 hours after you confirmed the deletion. Before then, signing in doesn't start a new account. Rekorder asks if you want to cancel the deletion instead. Click Keep my account and sign in, and everything in your account stays as it was. See Cancel an account deletion.

Once the deletion has started, you can't call it off. The email saying your account was deleted means it's too late to keep anything.
