The free allowance: 60 minutes and 1 GB, explained EN

A standing ceiling on what you are keeping, not a monthly quota - delete something and the space comes straight back.

Your free allowance is 60 minutes of recording time and 1 GB of storage. It's a ceiling on what you're keeping right now, not a monthly quota. Nothing resets on a schedule, and deleting a recording gives its minutes and storage back straight away.

How the ceiling works

Rekorder adds up the recordings you currently have and compares the total with your two limits. It doesn't count how much you've recorded over time.

  • Whichever limit you reach first applies. That's either 60 minutes of recording time or 1 GB of storage. See Which limit am I hitting: minutes or storage?.
  • Deleting gives the space back. Delete a recording and its minutes and storage count as free again right away.
  • Waiting gives you nothing back. If you're at the limit today, you'll be at the limit next month unless you delete something or upgrade. See Does my free time reset each month?.
  • Imported files count towards the 1 GB. Images, video and audio in your asset library use storage, but they don't add recording minutes.
  • Archived recordings still count. Only deleting frees space. See Archive vs delete.
  • Edited recordings use extra storage. When you render an edit, Rekorder keeps the original as well, so you can restore it. That copy counts until you delete the recording. See Editing is non-destructive: getting the original back.

What counts, and what doesn't

The allowance belongs to your account, not to a workspace. Creating more workspaces doesn't give you more room.

A paid seat exempts a workspace's recordings from the measurement. Recordings in a workspace where you hold a paid seat don't count towards your free limits. A seat doesn't make your free allowance bigger. It takes those recordings out of the total.

Recordings made in Offline mode stay on your computer and don't count towards the cloud limits. See Cloud mode and Offline mode: which one you are in.

When you reach the ceiling

At either limit, Rekorder won't let you add more to your account. That covers starting a new recording, importing an asset, and moving a recording into a workspace. If you reach a limit while recording, the recording stops and what's already uploaded is kept. See You hit a limit mid-recording. Was the take lost?.

Reaching the ceiling on the free plan doesn't delete anything. To start recording again, do one of these:

  1. Delete recordings or imported assets you no longer need. Deletion is permanent, so download anything you might want later first. See Download your own recording.
  2. Get a paid seat, so your recordings in that workspace stop counting. See What Pro costs, and what it includes.

For what else happens when you're over, see What happens when you go over your free limits. The 30-day grace period is separate. It applies when a paid seat ends, not when you fill the free allowance. See The 30-day grace period and the deletion order.
