An asset will not import EN

Unsupported type, over 30 MB, or longer than 30 seconds.

If Rekorder refuses to import a file into your asset library, it shows a message that tells you exactly why. The three file-based reasons are an unsupported type, a file over 30 MB, or a video longer than 30 seconds. A couple of other reasons aren't about the file at all.

"Unsupported file — only images, videos and audio are allowed."

Rekorder only imports images, videos and audio files. It checks the actual contents of the file, not its name or extension, so renaming a file to look like a supported type doesn't help.

  • Open the file in another app to confirm what it actually is.
  • If it's a document, archive, or another non-media format, it can't be imported as an asset.
  • If you're sure it's an image, video or audio file, try converting it to a common format (for example JPEG, PNG, MP4 or MP3) and import the converted file.

"File is larger than 30 MB."

Every asset, of any type, is limited to 30 MB.

  • Compress the file, or trim a video or audio file to a shorter clip, then import it again.
  • For video, lowering the resolution or bitrate before exporting from your video editor usually brings the size down.

"Videos must be 30 seconds or shorter."

This limit applies to video only. Audio files aren't checked for length, and images have no length at all.

  • Trim the video to 30 seconds or less in another app before importing it.
  • If you need a longer clip in your recording, add it during editing as a screen or camera recording instead of as an asset. See What you can do in the editor.

"Upload failed. Please try again."

This is a generic failure, not a problem with the file itself. Try importing the file again. If it keeps failing:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Try a different browser tab or reload the page, then import again.
  • If it still won't import, see How do I contact support?, and mention the file type and size.

"You have used all of your free storage" or "...free recording time"

This isn't about the file — it means your account has reached a free-plan limit, and imports are blocked until you free up space. Delete a recording or an asset you no longer need, or upgrade to Pro. See The free allowance: 60 minutes and 1 GB, explained and What happens when you go over your free limits.
