"UI in tab" vs "Only in preview tab" EN

When you record a browser tab with your camera on, the Interface setting decides where the camera bubble and the recording controls appear. With UI in tab they appear on the page you are recording. With Only in preview tab the page stays clean. Your camera still appears in the finished video, and you control the recording from Rekorder's recording tab.

Change the setting

1. Click the Rekorder icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup.
2. Open the settings and go to the Camera tab.
3. Under Interface, choose UI in tab (default) or Only in preview tab.

Rekorder remembers your choice for future recordings.

The two options

UI in tab (default)

• The camera bubble and the control bar are added to the page you are recording.
• You can see yourself, and move the bubble, while you work on the page.
• You can preview the bubble on the page before you start. Use the Preview camera in the current tab button in the popup, or turn on Auto camera preview in the settings to show the bubble as soon as you open the popup.
• Because Rekorder records the whole tab, both the camera bubble and the control bar are captured in the finished video, not just the camera. Move the bubble out of the way, or switch to Settings -> Camera -> Only in preview tab, if you don't want them in the output.

Only in preview tab

• Nothing is added to the page you are recording, so the tab stays clean while you record.
• Rekorder adds your camera to the video itself. You see it in the preview on the recording page, which is the first tab while you record, and in the finished recording.
• You start, pause and stop from the recording page, not from a bar on your page.
• The Preview camera in the current tab button is not available, and Auto camera preview has no effect when you record a tab.

This option is useful when a bubble or bar on the page would get in your way, or when you share your screen live and do not want other people to see the controls.

When the setting applies

• Tab recordings only. When you record a window, your whole screen or just your camera, Rekorder always adds the camera to the video itself. The Interface setting makes no difference.
• Pages that do not allow it. Rekorder cannot add the bubble and control bar to some pages, such as Chrome's own pages (addresses that start with chrome://), other extensions' pages or the Chrome Web Store. On these pages Rekorder switches to Only in preview tab for that recording and opens the recording page so you can control it from there. Your camera is still in the video. Your saved setting does not change.
