The last-resort button in Advanced settings - and why running it during an upload costs you that recording.
Reset wipes everything Rekorder has stored in your browser: its saved data, its cache and the recording files it keeps on your computer. Use it only when nothing else has fixed a problem. Don't run it while a recording is uploading, because you'll lose that whole recording.
Reset works on the extension's data on your computer. It clears:
Reset doesn't sign you out of the extension, and it doesn't change whether you're in Cloud mode or Offline mode.
There's no undo. Once the files are deleted, Rekorder can't bring them back.
While you record, Rekorder keeps your video on your computer and sends it to your account in pieces. If Reset runs before the last piece has arrived, the pieces still on your computer are deleted and the recording can't be finished. Rekorder warns about this next to the button: if you reset while an upload is in progress, you lose your entire recording.
Before you reset, make sure that:
To see what's stored locally first, open the OPFS Explorer, which lets you browse and download those files. See The OPFS Explorer, and when to reach for it.
The popup closes once the reset is done.
Reset is rarely the right fix. Before you use it, look at the article that matches what you're seeing:
