Sign in from the extension popup EN

You can sign in to Rekorder from the extension popup with your Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple account, with an Email link, or with a passkey. Signing in switches the extension to Cloud mode, so your recordings can be shared, edited and synced. If you don't have an account yet, signing in creates one.

Sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook or Apple

1. Click the Rekorder icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup.
2. Click the button for the account you want to use: Sign in with Google, Sign in with Microsoft, Sign in with Facebook or Sign in with Apple.
3. A separate sign-in window opens. Follow the steps from your provider to finish signing in.
4. When you finish, the popup closes. Click the Rekorder icon again to reopen it.

When you're signed in, the popup shows your recording options instead of the sign-in buttons.

Sign in with a Passkey

If you've set up a passkey, you can use it from the popup too.

1. Click the Rekorder icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup.
2. Click Sign in with a Passkey.
3. In the sign-in window that opens, confirm with your passkey.
4. When the popup closes, click the Rekorder icon again to reopen it.

Sign in with an emailed link

Instead of a provider, you can sign in with a link sent to your email address. The Sign in with email button is on the setup page that opens after you install the extension, not in the popup itself.

1. On the setup page, choose the Cloud experience, then click Sign in with email.
2. In the window that opens, enter your email address and click Send.
3. Open the email and click the link inside to finish signing in.

After clicking the link in the email, you're automatically signed in. Click the extension popup again and you should no longer see the login screen.

If you'd rather not sign in

You can use Rekorder without an account. Below the sign-in buttons, click I don't want to Sign in, then Continue. The extension runs in Offline mode, which saves recordings on your device. In Offline mode there is no video sharing, no workspaces, no video editor and no cloud sync.

To switch to Cloud mode later, click the person icon at the top of the popup, or open the popup's settings and click Sign in. See Cloud mode and Offline mode: which one you are in for the difference.

Troubleshooting

• Nothing happens when you click a button. Check that your browser isn't blocking the sign-in window, then try again.
• The emailed link doesn't arrive, or you see "Too many sign-in links were requested." Wait up to an hour and try again. See Sign in with an emailed link.
• Passkey sign-in fails. See Fix passkey sign-in and setup problems.
• The extension asks you to sign in when you were already signed in. See The extension shows a login screen when you were signed in.
