Choose a device and confirm it is picking you up before you start.
To record your voice, turn on the microphone in the Rekorder popup and choose which device to use. Before you start, you can check that Rekorder is picking you up by watching the microphone button on the recording controls.
Rekorder remembers this choice for your next recordings.
If you turn the microphone off before you start, you cannot turn it back on during that recording. The microphone button on the control bar is greyed out and says Mic stream disabled from the extension popup. To mute and unmute during a recording, leave the microphone on before you start. See Mute your microphone mid-recording.
Rekorder saves your choice and uses it for your next recordings. If the device you chose is no longer connected, Rekorder picks another available microphone.
The list only shows device names after you give Rekorder access to your microphone. If you have not done that yet, Rekorder asks you to allow access first. See Allow camera and microphone access.
The microphone button on the recording controls shows a small moving wave. The line stays flat when there is silence and moves more as you speak louder.
When you record a tab and the Interface setting is set to Only in preview tab, no controls appear on the page before you start. In that case, check the wave once the recording starts.
If the wave stays flat while you talk, you have probably picked the wrong device, or the microphone is muted on the device itself or in your computer's sound settings.
