My recording has no audio EN

A recording can end up silent for one of three reasons: your microphone wasn't captured, the tab's sound wasn't captured, or your computer's system sound wasn't captured. Check each source separately to find which one failed.

Check your Source sound setting

In the extension's Audio settings, Source sound controls whether the sound of the page or your computer is captured, separately from your microphone:

• When you record a Tab, it captures that tab's sound.
• When you record a Window or the entire screen, it captures your system's sound instead.
• Recording system sound is not supported by Chrome on Linux, regardless of this setting. See Why there is no system sound on Linux.

If Source sound was off, or you recorded a window/screen and expected tab sound (or the other way around), that source won't be in the video. For the full list of options, see Record the sound from a page or from your computer.

Check your microphone

• Open the extension popup and check the Microphone device under Audio settings. If it shows No microphone found, Rekorder has no device to record from.
• Make sure Chrome has microphone permission for Rekorder. See Camera or microphone permission is blocked.
• If a mic is connected but Rekorder can't use it, e.g. another app is holding it, see Camera or microphone unavailable.

While recording, the recorder tab shows a small mic indicator next to the timer that moves like a wave when it picks up your voice and stays flat when it's silent. If it stays flat while you're talking, your mic isn't being captured - worth checking before you stop.

Check whether the mic was muted

If you muted the microphone from the recorder tab's controls during recording, or it was already muted when you started, that portion of the recording has no mic audio. See Mute your microphone mid-recording.

Troubleshooting

• No sound anywhere in the recording - check both the microphone and the Source sound setting; a mistake in either alone can make the whole recording silent.
• Mic audio missing, but tab/system sound is fine - the mic was likely muted, disconnected, or blocked. See the microphone checks above.
• Tab or system sound missing, but mic is fine - recheck the Source sound setting, and remember system sound never works on Linux.
• Audio is present but very quiet - this isn't a missing-audio issue. Check the input volume for your microphone and the output volume of the source you're recording in your operating system, not in Rekorder.
