Tab audio, system audio, and how they mix with your microphone.
Rekorder can record the sound playing on the page you're recording (tab audio) or the sound playing on your computer (system audio), together with your voice. One setting, Source sound, controls both.
Which sound Rekorder captures depends on what you record:
If you record only your camera, there's no source sound to capture. Your microphone still works. See What you can record: tab, window, screen or camera for the recording modes.
The setting is on by default. It's applied when you start a recording, so change it before you click record.
When you record a window or your entire screen, Chrome shows its own sharing dialog. Pick what you want to share there. Whether system sound can be included depends on that dialog: if it offers an option to share audio, leave it ticked. If you don't get system sound, Rekorder records the picture without it.
Chrome on Linux can't capture system sound, so on Linux only tab audio is available. See Why there is no system sound on Linux.
Rekorder combines the source sound and your microphone into a single audio track. Viewers hear both together, at their normal levels. If you're talking over music or a video, the two overlap in the recording.
The mix is fixed when you record. Rekorder doesn't record the two sounds as separate tracks.
