Split at the playhead, delete, duplicate and drag segments into a new order.
To cut out a mistake, split the recording into segments in the editor, then delete the segment you don't want. You can also duplicate segments and drag them into a new order. Nothing changes the original recording until you render.
Open the editor first. See What you can do in the editor.
When you open the editor, the whole recording is one segment on the timeline. Each split creates another one. Every segment gets a letter based on its place in the original recording, so you can still tell which part is which after you rearrange them.
The segments on either side close up, so the video plays straight through where the mistake was.
You can also choose Split here from the same right-click menu. It splits at the point you right-clicked instead of at the playhead.
Hold Shift and drag across the track to select an area. Then right-click it and choose Delete selection. The editor splits at both edges of the area and removes what is inside. The same menu has Create segment from selection, which turns the area into its own segment without deleting it.
Drag a segment left or right and drop it where you want it. The other segments shift to make room. Playback follows the new order.
Drag without holding Shift. Shift-drag selects an area instead.
To move by one slot at a time, right-click a segment and choose Move earlier or Move later. If several segments are selected, they all move together.
Right-click a segment and choose Duplicate segment. The copy appears straight after the original. Duplicate works on one segment at a time, so it isn't offered when several are selected.
Choose Undo or Redo in the Edit tab, or press Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on Mac) and Ctrl+Shift+Z (⌘+Shift+Z on Mac). Undo works step by step, so a deleted segment comes back without affecting your other edits.
The editor saves your changes as a draft automatically. Viewers keep watching the current video until you choose Apply & render. Rendering also clears the recording's transcript, summary and chapters. If you change your mind, Restore original discards every edit. See Save a draft vs Apply & render and Editing is non-destructive: getting the original back.
