Captions are made on demand, and they are what make search, chapters and summaries possible.
Rekorder doesn't caption a recording automatically. You generate captions when you want them, from the recording's page. Once they exist, they appear in the player, in the Transcript tab, and in search. They're also what Rekorder needs to create a summary or chapters, or to mute filler words.
Only the person who owns the recording can generate captions.
The tab shows "Generating…" while the captions are made. When they're ready, the transcript appears on its own. You don't need to refresh the page.
Picking the language yourself is recommended, because it's more reliable than auto-detection. See Caption languages, and how the language is chosen for the details.
Viewers can see the transcript unless you've turned that off. See Stop viewers downloading, or hide the transcript.
If the language was wrong or the result isn't good, open the Transcript tab and select Regenerate. Choose a language and select Generate.
Regenerating replaces the current transcript, including any lines you've edited. Your summary and chapters are kept.
If you see "Caption generation failed.", the button comes back so you can try again. If it keeps failing, see Caption generation failed, or is rate limited.
