A recording will not save to Google Drive EN

Every reason a save is refused or fails, and what each one needs from you.

A save to Google Drive can be refused right away, before anything is queued, or it can start and fail partway through. Either way, Rekorder tells you the reason: hover over the Google Drive badge on the video page, or read the message that appears when you choose Save to Drive while the page is open.

Refused before the upload starts

These stop the save immediately - nothing is queued, and nothing shows on the badge yet.

  • Recording not ready. The recording is still being converted. Wait a few minutes, then choose Save to Drive again.
  • Uploads in progress. You can have up to three recordings uploading to Google Drive at once. Wait for one to finish, then try again.
  • Download not allowed. You can only save a recording you're allowed to download. If you don't own it, its owner needs to turn downloads on first. See Who can save a recording to Drive.
  • Google Drive isn't connected. Rekorder opens the Connect prompt instead of failing outright. Sign in to the Google account you want to use and leave the Drive box ticked on Google's consent screen. See Connect or disconnect Google Drive.
  • Google Drive needs reconnecting. Access was removed in your Google account, or has expired. Rekorder opens the Reconnect prompt; choosing Reconnect carries out the save you asked for.

Failed after the upload had started

These show on the Google Drive badge as Couldn't save to Google Drive, with one of these reasons:

  • Your Google Drive is full. Free up some space in Drive, then choose Save to Drive again.
  • Rekorder can no longer save to your Google Drive. Google access was removed or expired while the upload was queued or running. Choose Reconnect when Rekorder offers it - the save starts again on its own once you've reconnected.
  • Google Drive was disconnected. Someone disconnected Drive in Settings while this save was waiting or running. Connect it again, then save the recording again.
  • The owner of this recording no longer allows downloads. The owner turned downloads off after your save was already queued. Ask them to turn it back on, then try again.
  • The recording's video file isn't available right now. This is rare and usually temporary. Wait a while and try again.
  • The upload didn't go through. A connection problem with Google that didn't clear up. Rekorder retries automatically several times first, waiting longer between each attempt, before showing this message. Choose Save to Drive to try again.

If a save keeps failing

  • Open the Connectors tab in Settings and check the Google Drive card actually says Connected. See Connect or disconnect Google Drive.
  • Confirm there's free space in the Google account you're connected to.
  • If the reconnect prompt names a different Google account than you expect, disconnect and reconnect with the one you meant to use.
  • Still stuck? Contact support.
