What happens to your workspaces and teammates EN

Which workspaces go with the account, which recordings change hands, and what your teammates are told.

When you delete your Rekorder account, what happens to a workspace depends on who owns it. Every workspace you own is deleted with everything in it, including your teammates' recordings. In workspaces that someone else owns, your recordings and folders are not deleted. They go to that workspace's owner.

Before you ask to delete your account, the Deletion tab in Settings lists each workspace this affects and what will happen to it.

Workspaces you own

Every workspace you own is deleted along with your account. This includes your personal workspace and any team workspaces you created. Everything inside them is deleted too:

  • All the recordings in the workspace, including the ones your teammates made there.
  • Folders, members and pending invitations for that workspace.
  • The workspace's subscription, billing details and invoices in Rekorder.

You can't hand a workspace you own to someone else as part of the deletion. If your teammates want to keep their work, they need to move or download it before the deletion runs. See Move recordings between folders and workspaces and Download your own recording.

If a workspace you own still has Pro until a later date, that time is lost when the workspace is deleted, and you don't get a refund. If a subscription is still set to renew, you can't delete your account until you turn auto-renew off. See Why the Delete button is disabled.

What your teammates are told

Everyone who is an active member of a team workspace you own gets two emails:

  1. When you confirm the deletion, the email is titled "The workspace name workspace will be deleted". It says you are deleting your account, gives the date and time the workspace will be deleted, and tells them that everything in it will go, including the recordings they made there. It also asks them to download anything they want to keep before then.
  2. Once the deletion has run, the email is titled "The workspace name workspace was deleted" and confirms that everything in it is gone.

Both emails tell them that their own account and their other workspaces are not affected.

Your teammates get nothing when you only ask for the confirmation link. The first email goes out when you open that link and confirm. The deletion then runs 24 hours later. If you sign in during those 24 hours and keep your account, the workspace stays as it was, but your teammates don't get an email saying so. Tell them yourself. See Cancel an account deletion.

The Deletion tab shows how many teammates each of your team workspaces has, and how many of their recordings will be deleted.

Workspaces someone else owns

If you are a member of a workspace that someone else owns, the deletion doesn't delete that workspace. Instead:

  • Your recordings there go to the workspace owner, along with your folders in that workspace. The Deletion tab names each of these workspaces and its owner, and shows how many of your recordings will go to them.
  • You leave the workspace. If you had a paid seat there, it is released. The owner can give it to someone else. See Give someone a paid seat, or take it back.
  • Invitations you haven't accepted yet to other people's workspaces are cancelled.

The owner doesn't get an email when your recordings are handed over to them.

If you want to take your recordings in these workspaces with you, download them before you delete your account. For how leaving a workspace works in general, see When someone leaves a workspace, or is removed.

Your comments on other people's recordings

Comments you wrote on recordings that aren't yours are deleted, including in workspaces you don't own. When one of your comments is deleted, the replies to it are deleted too, even if other people wrote them.
