What is removed, and what to do before you ask.
You can delete your Rekorder account yourself from Settings, on the Deletion tab. This deletes your recordings, the workspaces you own and everything in them, and it can't be undone once it has run. Nothing happens straight away, though. You confirm by email first, and then you have 24 hours to change your mind.
What is deleted
- Your recordings, with their transcripts, comments, share links and edits.
- Workspaces you own, with everything in them. This includes your personal workspace, and your teammates' recordings in any team workspace you own.
- Your assets and your profile picture.
- Comments you wrote on other people's recordings.
- Your Google Drive connection and your settings. Copies you already saved to Google Drive stay in your Drive. Only the connection is removed.
- Subscriptions, billing details and invoices in Rekorder for workspaces you own.
If you are a member of a workspace someone else owns, your recordings and folders there are not deleted. They go to that workspace's owner. See What happens to your workspaces and teammates.
Some records are kept after deletion, such as your email address marked as deleted, sign-in and security logs, and payment records the law requires us to keep. See What is kept after your account is deleted.
Before you ask
- Turn off auto-renew on every Pro subscription you own. While a workspace you own has a subscription that will renew, the Delete my account… button is disabled. The Deletion tab lists each one with a Turn it off in Billing link. See Cancel a subscription, and what you keep and Why the Delete button is disabled.
- Paid time left is lost. If a workspace still has Pro until a later date, that time ends when your account is deleted, and you don't get a refund.
- Download the invoices you need. Once your account is deleted, you can't get them from Rekorder any more. The Deletion tab shows how many invoices you have in each workspace and links to them. See Find and download your invoices.
- Download the recordings you want to keep. See Download your own recording.
- Tell your teammates. Team workspaces you own are deleted along with their members' recordings. Your teammates get an email when you confirm and another when the deletion is done. To keep their work, they can move it out first. See Move recordings between folders and workspaces.
The Deletion tab shows what your account holds before you start: how many recordings you have, how much storage you use, how many assets you have and which workspaces you own.
Delete your account
- Open Settings and select the Deletion tab.
- Check what will be deleted, then click Delete my account….
- Type delete everything in the box, and complete the security check.
- Click Email me the confirmation link.
- Open the email Rekorder sends you, and follow the link within 60 minutes.
- On the page that opens, click Yes, delete my account.
Until you click that last button, nothing is deleted or scheduled and you stay signed in. If you close the page instead, nothing happens. If you ask again, the new link replaces the one before it. For problems with the link, see Confirm your account deletion by email and The account deletion link will not work.
After you confirm
- You are signed out everywhere, including in the extension.
- You get an email with the date and time your account will be deleted. That is 24 hours after you confirmed.
- To keep your account, sign in before that time. Rekorder asks if you want to cancel the deletion, and you click Keep my account and sign in. See Cancel an account deletion.
- Once the deletion has started, it can't be called off.
After your account is deleted, you can sign up again with the same email address. You start with a new, empty account. See Sign in again after deleting your account.
