Paid time is yours until the period ends. Un-cancelling means subscribing again.
Cancelling a Pro subscription stops the next renewal. It does not end Pro straight away. The workspace keeps Pro and all its paid seats until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that date the workspace goes back to the free plan. Cancelling is permanent: you can't resume a cancelled subscription. To get renewal back, you subscribe again.
Before you cancel
- Only the workspace owner can cancel. Everyone in the workspace can open Billing, but only the owner can change it.
- Each workspace is billed separately. Cancelling one workspace's subscription does not cancel the subscription of any other workspace.
- There are no refunds for the current period. Fees you have already paid are not refunded, except where consumer-protection law requires it. You keep the paid time instead.
- Keep copies of what matters. A subscription pays for storage while it is active. It does not pay for keeping your recordings forever. If you might go over the free limits after Pro ends, download the recordings you want to keep. See Download your own recording.
Cancel the subscription
- Switch to the workspace whose subscription you want to cancel.
- Open Billing from the menu.
- In the Cancel section, check the date Pro stays active until. Then click Cancel renewal.
- Read the confirmation and click Cancel renewal to confirm.
The page reloads and says: "This subscription is already cancelled and will not renew." It also shows the date you keep Pro until.
If the page says a payment confirmation is still in progress, you can't cancel yet. Wait until the payment provider confirms your subscription, then try again.
If you pay with PayPal
Rekorder cancels your PayPal agreement straight away, so it disappears from your PayPal account right away. This is expected. You still keep Pro in Rekorder until the end of the paid period, and PayPal will not bill you again.
If PayPal refuses to cancel the agreement, Rekorder changes nothing and your subscription stays active. You see a message saying PayPal would not cancel the agreement. Try again in a moment, or contact support.
What you keep until the period ends
Until the end date shown on the Billing page, nothing changes:
- The workspace stays on Pro.
- Everyone with a paid seat keeps it.
- You are not charged again.
What happens when the period ends
- The paid seats are released, and the workspace goes back to the free plan.
- Recordings that were covered by a paid seat now count toward the free allowance of the person who made them. This includes both minutes and storage. See The free allowance: 60 minutes and 1 GB, explained.
- No recordings are deleted when Pro ends. If someone is over the free limits, they can still watch, download, share and delete their recordings. They can't record or upload anything new outside a paid seat until they are back under the limits.
- An account that stays over the limits has 30 days to fix it. After that, recordings above the free limits can be deleted. See The 30-day grace period and the deletion order.
Changed your mind? Subscribe again
You can't undo a cancellation. If you cancelled by mistake, or want Pro to keep renewing, subscribe again. After you cancel, the Cancel section on the Billing page shows a Subscribe again button.
While you still have paid time left:
- You can subscribe again with a card. You pay nothing today. Checkout saves the card and shows a Set up renewal button. The card is first charged on the date your current period would have ended.
- The new subscription uses the same billing interval (monthly or yearly) and the same number of seats as the one you cancelled.
- You can't use PayPal for this. A new PayPal subscription charges you as soon as it starts, which would make you pay twice for the same time. To pay with PayPal, subscribe again after your paid period ends.
After the paid period has ended: subscribing again is a new purchase. Choose your plan, interval and seats on the pricing page, then pay by card or PayPal. See Upgrade a workspace to Pro.
You may not need to cancel
Troubleshooting
- There is no Cancel renewal button. Either you are not the workspace owner, or the subscription is already cancelled. The page says so if it is. Also check that you are on the right workspace.
- "There is nothing to cancel — this subscription is not renewing." The subscription is already cancelled, or it is no longer an active Pro subscription.
- You can't delete your account. You need to cancel active subscriptions first. See Why the Delete button is disabled.
